Over at Omnivoracious, Amazon’s book blog, reviewer Adrian Liang has a post titled “Science Fiction and Fantasy Series You Can’t Put Down.” The list has some good series on it, no doubt, but by far my favorite is Richard Kadrey’s Sandman Slim series. Liang writes,
It’s now fairly established that urban fantasy novels will star a messed-up hero or heroine, but Kadrey’s half-angel James Stark is more messed up than most. If you’re a fan of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files but don’t mind getting your hands (and mind) dirtier, then you’re in for a real treat with this seven-book (soon to be eight-book) series. If you can’t get enough Kadrey after reading this series, keep your eyes open for his new series starter, The Everything Box, which releases in April and promises to go more gonzo.
This post is not intended as an ad for Amazon by any means, but it put me in mind of Kadrey again, who continues to be one of my favorite urban fantasy authors. The prose in the Sandman Slim books takes snappy, fun dialogue to the next level, and I always look forward to the newest book’s release. Fans of the humor in the Deadpool movie will love it.
